A Fine Worcester Flight Barr and Barr Porcelain Pot Pourri Vase and Cover, of classical krater urn shape with twin  gold rams head handles and beaded border, beautifully painted by John Pennington with brightly coloured figures at conversation within dramatic panoramic landscapes with the distant ‘blue remembered hills’ of Worcestershire and Shropshire in the distance showing Woodbury Hill and full range of the Abberley Hills extending across Ramscombe and through Astley following the line to Arley and through to the peaks at Hagley, the pierced cover with kneeling winged sphinx finial.

Circa 1815

Height: 7 ins (16 cms) Mark: Black script mark to the underside of the urn.

Panoramic prints of the landscape surrounding the City of Worcester were executed during the last quarter of the eighteenth century by Valentine Green and James Ross. Painters at the Worcester factory therefore were fully aware of these designs.
