German Fayence Rooster Tureen and Cover. Modelled with its head turned to the right, painted in “grand feu” colours with an ochre comb, manganese beak, ochre and manganese eyes, its moulded white plumage with pale-manganese markings, a small chick peeping out from between its ochre claws, the cover formed as its wings with a chick finial.

Circa 1765
Height: 23.5 cm (9 ¼ in)

Provenance:
From a Continental collection that was formed before the Second World War. Items from the collection have not been seen by collectors and scholars since then.
