Rare pair of Meissen Spoons, the surface of each bowl moulded with grooves and a central flower spray flanked by flowers at the edges and with a scroll flourish at the join, the end of each handle moulded with a ‘Rocaille’, painted with scattered “Deutsche Blumen”

Circa. 1750 – 60

Height: 18 cm (7 1/16 in)

Rare pair of large Meissen Spoons or Ladles “after a silver original” with shaped handles, the gilt-edged bowls painted on each side with a spray of “Deutsche Blumen”, the handles with smaller sprigs and gilt bellflowers at the base.

Circa 1750.

Hermitage inventory number painted on one in iron-red.

Height: 30.7 cm (12 in)
 

Meissen oval sugar box and cover each painted in “Kakiemon” style with two sprigs of “Indianische Blumen” and a phoenix in flight, the domed cover surmounted by a rabbit finial.

c. 1730

Crossed swords in underglaze blue. Incised V.

Length: 12 cm (4 ¾ in)
This shape including the finial is based on a German silver form.
