An exceptionally fine First period Dr Wall Worcester Yellow Ground Junket dish, the beautifully crisply moulded yellow basketweave ground with three ogival puce scrolled floral reserves surrounding a central circular floral panel, the lobed rim with a puce scrolled and yellow bordered floral band with further ogival panels containing sprigs of flowers.

Circa 1760-1765
Diameter: 9ins (23 cms)
No Mark

Although the yellow ground was in use by at least 1758, the year in which the 14th Countess of Eroll died, see H R Marshall “Coloured Worcester Porcelain of the First Period” pl 29 No. 652 for the mask jug bearing her arms, this junket dish, with its darker puce enrichment and strong shading to the European flowers, can be compared with the type of decoration found on hexagonal geranium moulded creamboats and datable to between 1760-65.
