An extremely fine Meissen cylindrical Chocolate Pot and Cover, the cylindrical pail-shaped pot with a scroll moulded spout and to one side set into a scroll moulded support extends the turned ebonised handle, the flat cover with gilt metal mounts, handle and asymmetrical escutcheon which covers the hole for the molinette, painted in a delicate range of puce monochromes of varying strength with European figures at quaysides separated by windswept trees issuing from rocky crags before ships in full sail with distant lands beyond. This is an extremely rare shape.

Circa: 1740 – 45

Height: 5 5/8 ins (14.3cms)
