A scalloped Worcester Dessert plate, painted by Jeffreys Hamett O'Neale, with the Fable of 'The Fox and the Wolf', showing the Fox within the river, before a cascade andtrying in desperation to climb the rockyriver bank, on which stands the Wolf surveying the scene, before a distant river landscape winding back from a gnarled oak tree on the left of the scene through to the distant hills in the background, with a flock of birds in flight overhead, within a complex gold scrolled diaper and lambrequin border of 'Kitley' type, on a wet blue ground, with gilt dentil rim. Circa 1768-70. Diameter: Mark: fretted square in underglaze blue to the underside. The Fable taken from Francis Barlow, 'Aesop's Fables', Fable XLII.
