A scalloped Worcester Dessert plate, painted by Jeffreys Hamett O'Neale, with the Fable of 'The Horse and a Raven', showing the Horse standing beside a meandering river looking towards a raven which perches within a tall leafy tree and looks on inquisitively as if to engage in conversation, with 'Van Dyke' brown rocks in the foreground, the river landscape with characteristic talls trees at various points and distant hills in the background, a small flock of birds flies overhead, within a complex gold scrolled diaper and lambrequin border of 'Kitley' type, on a wet blue ground, with gilt dentil edge. Circa 1768-70. Diameter: Mark: fretted square in underglaze blue to the underside.

The Fable appears to have been taken from an asyet unidentified source.

Provenance: Sir Peter and Lady Cresswell Collection. English Private Collection.
