Letter of safe-conduct.

25 January 1667., Whitehall

Letter of safe-conduct for the ship named Nieuw Jorck of the captain Pieter Reijersz. van der Beets, that brought Peter Stuyvesant back to New York in 1667. Sealed and signed by the Duke of York, the later King James II, giving permission to trade in the city of New York and surrounding areas during the year 1667. Of the utmost importance for the early history of New York and Anglo-Dutch relations in the 17th-century.
